When:
Summer 2017
Client:
Orwigsburg Business & Professional Association
Programs:
Microsoft Publisher, by request
A contact from my hometown reached out to me to design event flyers that her organization was hosting during the summer. She also specifically asked for these posters to be made with Microsoft Publisher, so that if there were any last-minute changes she would be able to edit it. Though that program is limiting compared to Adobe Photoshop or InDesign, I liked the challenge and accepted her request. These flyers were then printed distributed around local shops and venues in Orwigsburg for the whole town to see as well as posted on their Facebook page for maximum reach.
My client specifically asked that certain information and sponsors always be listed at the bottom, so the following designs accommodate for that. I had a lot of fun with the Family Fun Fest font! They were shooting for a classic summer carnival-esque theme that I think compliments it nicely.
Keeping the sponsors and contact information consistent, I played with the title to get the most attention and the rest of the information easy to read. Please note that the spelling of "sponsors" was fixed before printing, as you can see below, but I lost that file unfortunately for this portfolio.
Visiting my local coffee shop I was pleased to spot one of the flyers in the wild!
The organization created a new logo for themselves that they asked me to include on this flyer, which was a bit of a challenge as it's shape was pretty unique for me. However, it complemented the text nicely to create a dynamic reading line.
My major in Digital Communications has taught me to integrate multiple disciplines into each project. There are always instances of design, user experience, programming, and communication in every project and below will show how much those amounts are utilized. The more filled the bars are, the more that concentration was used in the process of making the project.
