IMPERFECTIONISM
We live in a world where so many pursue and expect perfection in everything. This has pushed many aspects of our lives to seem so automated, robotic and lifeless. As an artist I want those who view and interact with my works to be able to sense and recognize that I, a human being just like anyone else, created it with my own hands. Many see imperfections as mistakes; I believe imperfections, especially in art, add a level of humanity back into what, at times, can be very sterile and flawless. Each piece in this collection has a piece of that humanity within in that, with its flaws and imperfections, and shows that I put time, effort, and love into working on it. I ask that people don't simply view this collection from a distance; rather, get up close, inspect each element, recognize where my painting was off, where my lines on an illustration seem jagged or oddly placed, see the humanity within my work and appreciate it.
