Description: During my senior year of high school, I participated in 3 independent studies in advanced graphic design. My teacher and I brainstormed ideas for a project I could work on for the semester and came up with the idea of a service project that would give back to the NICU. We worked with the Women and Babies Hospital in Lancaster and made 300 onesies for the babies when they go home. I led the project and trained my peers on the vinyl cutter and heat press. I delivered the onesies to the hospital myself and saw the effect my work had on the families there, which changed my life.
While employed as a student worker for the Design, Media, and Technology Department at LVC, I suggested doing a project similar with other Digital Communications students. The department loved the idea and connected us to UPMC Pinnacle NICU in Harrisburg. I worked with the DigiVal club to communicate with the hospital, and my primary role in this project was to train other students on the vinyl cutter and heat press, as well as make the onesies.
